The Art of Carpentry

Some students take tests to show their knowledge, others write a paper. BSC Carpentry students build a house. Between the first day of class and the day the house goes on the market, they learn everything from concrete foundations to kitchen cabinets. This year, they also focused on collaboration. The contemporary design was a collaboration with local architecture firm . The resulting modern farmhouse incorporated the artistic talent of carpentry and visual art student Kelsey Skenderovic. Skenderovic designed and fired the tiles around the fireplace, working with her classmates and instructors on the installation.

A newly constructed two-story house with a modern design, featuring a combination of white siding, gray paneling, and brick accents. The house has black-framed windows, a black front door, and a small concrete porch with wooden posts. The yard is unfinished with piles of dirt and no landscaping.
A group of 16 people, including students and instructors, pose together inside a wood-paneled room with natural lighting. Some are kneeling in front, while others stand behind. Several people wear "Carpentry" branded shirts, suggesting they are part of a construction or trades training program.
A woman in a gray hoodie and jeans points across a room under construction while speaking with a man in a green work shirt and cap, who stands beside her. Construction tools, including a miter saw and vacuum, are visible in the background, along with other workers observing the discussion. The setting appears to be a residential interior build or renovation project.
